In the November 2012–January 2013 issue, Binka Schwan and I collaborated on a Stitch Anatomy article on pleats. She wrote the article, and I designed a pleated baby dress to accompany the article. Since that time, I’ve had requests to add larger sizes. I thought using a sparkly yarn might make it a fun dress for the holidays.

I’ve made some adjustments to the pattern besides adding sizes. The back and front are identical, and since this is for the winter issue, I’ve added sleeves. Be sure to check the chest measurement before selecting a size. Each size has 3” of ease.

A horizontal chain stitch is worked after the pleats are formed. It is also used on the cuffs of the sleeves and neckband. (I really like the look of the horizontal chain stitch. I don’t seem to be tired of it yet!)
