This scarf is a celebration to the vivid yet soothing texture of entrelac knitting, in the same way that a moonbeam is both vivid and soothing as it splashes over the deep night sea. It is knitted in the horizontal, to make for long wavy stripes that wrap snugly around your neck. This pattern uses beads at the short end tips, to give them that slight added weight and sparkle. It is knitted in undersized needles to tighten the gauge of the squares.
The pattern is for jumperweight yarn, but can also be applied to double knit, though this will affect the size and dimensions of the scarf.

Needles
Circular needles, 2mm. To make this scarf you will need circulars because you are knitting the length of the scarf, not the width; straight needles will not work. If you choose a different yarn weight you need to alter your needle size accordingly.
Optional: crochet hook for casting on, 2.5mm. If you alter the yarn weight and needle size, make sure that your crochet hook is at least 0.5mm bigger than your knitting needle size.

Tension
4 (width) x 5 (height) 5 st-rectangles in entrelac = 10 cm after blocking. It is always wise to do a swatch to establish your tension; adjust your needle size accordingly.
