Nest & Eggs of Black-Headed Bunting
These colorful birds build their nests in a low bush or shrub, and sometimes decorate them with bright flowers.
The nest of the black-headed bunting is made sturdy (just like the real ones are) by holding 3 strands of yarn together and using large dpns. Finished size is around 4.5” wide and 2” tall.
The eggs are made with cotton yarn and size 3 dpns. Spots are embroidered after stuffing. Finished size of the eggs is 1.25” long and .75” wide.
Learn more about this wonderful bird creation and about 24 other animals when you read the pages of a naturalist as she travels the world, documenting the animals she sees, and designing knitting patterns for each one. This book was a collaboration with my children who did the artwork.
