Anyone who has tried to pull a sweater over a squirming child’s head without removing an ear—only to find it is on backwards—will appreciate this sweater. It features a simple seamless, raglan construction and a very stretchy, wide neck; and the back is the same as the front. The sweater is worked top down from the rolled neckband to the bottom band.

The sample is striped, and this does add a bit of complexity. When stripes are worked in the round, you have to use the jogless join technique to avoid the jogs at the color changes. This technique isn’t difficult, but for every color change there are two ends to weave in, i.e., 132 ends for the largest size. This is discussed in the “On Your Way to the Masters” article in this issue.

If you don’t feel up to all of the yarn tails, knit the sweater in one color or work out your own pattern of stripes.
