I re-imagined 1902 Butterick’s Pillow Case Lace as a reversible scarf with double yarn and a narrow border on both ends. All 16 pattern rows are “fancy rows”. Starting with 33 stitches, the stitch count increases until the 18th row where 13 stitches are bound off to start the next scarf section.
My sample scarf is 8.5 inches at its widest but gauge is up to you.

Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, purl, YO, YO twice, k2tog, k3tog and bind off in knit stitch.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.

120 yards of Jojoland’s Melody yarn (2 strands held together) made 10 inches of this scarf at gauge.
