From 1918 Priscilla Cotton Knitting Book, p.6, “beading” meant a narrow insertion intended for ribbon to be woven through it. There are 5 stitches and 2 rows to this pattern. At gauge, a ¼” wide ribbon would fit. The single beading is 0.5” wide and the double beading is 0.75” wide at gauge.

Skills needed: cast on, knit, YO, k2tog and bind off in knit stitch.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.

8 yards of Aunt Lydia’s Classic 10 thread will make 10 inches of single beading at gauge.
7 yards of Aunt Lydia’s Classic 10 thread will make 10 inches of double beading at gauge.
