Rheingold Hat
Think twined knitting might be a bit too much for you? Don’t worry - there is an ebook with a comprehensive photo tutorial as well as patterns for all three twined knitting hats in the Woolyn series, Doelger, Linden and Rheingold.
A hat with varying width stripes and using the Tvåändsstickning, or twined knitting technique, the Rheingold Hat is a warm and cushy.
Twined knitting results in a dense, thick fabric where the stitches “pop” out from each other creating a pleasing texture. Surprisingly simple to master once you get going, the hat is a perfect project for knit nights and binge watching of your favorite tv show. The hat is fully charted.
Note on Gauge: Expect to get a different gauge for two-end twined knitting than for standard stockinette done with a single strand. For reference, single strand stockinette gauge is 17.5 sts and 22 rows = 4”/10cm.
Many thanks to Dry Dock Wine & Spirits in Red Hook, Brooklyn for allowing us to do an impromptu photo shoot!
