The SAGE THROW was the design that started off the idea for the very popular FAIRISLE CLUB first launched in 2014. Marie was commissioned to design and knit a throw based on the lovely SAGE TUNIC from Marie’s first book WINDSWEPT by the Campaign for Wool as a part of Wool Week 2014. The resulting throw was exhibited at Campaign for Wool exhibition at Southwark Cathedral, London in Oct 2014.

The throw uses 30 balls of Rowan Felted Tweed, the colours are listed below. Two of the original colours have sadly been discontinued so Marie has list an alternative to use:

Clay 177 x 5 balls
Phantom 153 x 4 balls
Hedgerow 187 x 2 balls - use Lotus Leaf 205 as substitute
Gilt 160 x 3 balls - use Cumin 193 as a substitute
Maritime 167 x 2 balls
Ginger 154 x 1 ball
Cinnamon 175 x 2 balls
Bilberry 151 x 2 balls
Peony 183 x 2 balls
Avocado 161 x 1 ball
Watery 152 x 2 balls
Tawny 186 x 2 balls
Camel 157 x 2 balls

The throw is knitted flat and the use of 2 x long circular needles is suggested.
