Sea Glass Hat is a colorful little project with a big personality. It’s designed to use the yarn you already have and turn leftovers into something you’ll actually wear.

This pattern is free when you sign up for our newsletter at woolandpine.com. After confirming your email, you’ll receive a coupon code to download the pattern at no cost.

Inspired by the Sea Glass Sweater and Cowl, the hat uses simple 1x1 colorwork to blend scraps together. You change colors frequently, letting minis, leftovers, and favorite skeins melt into one fabric. Each hat comes out different and that’s exactly the point.

It’s a relaxing knit and the included video tutorials walk you through the colorwork so you can focus on choosing colors and watching it grow.

Design Details

Sea Glass Hat is worked seamlessly in the round from the brim up. The ribbed brim flows into 1x1 colorwork, creating a marled, shifting surface as colors change.

Frequent color changes keep floats short and manageable, and our finishing method lets you tuck yarn tails into the fabric as you knit, so you aren’t left with a pile of ends at the finish.

Eight sizes are included so you can knit for babies, kids, friends, and yourself.
