Sea Glass Sweater is the ultimate stashbuster. This seamless, top-down, in-the-round sweater features long sleeves and a relaxed silhouette that’s super comfy to wear and easy to knit. The dynamic 1x1 colorwork pattern gives you endless ways to mix and match ALL your yarn scraps, minis, and leftovers into a truly one-of-a-kind piece.

Say goodbye to weaving in ends. The construction and finishing methods built into the pattern let you knit continuously while managing yarn changes as you go, and the included video tutorials walk you through several easy ways to handle your yarn tails.

Curious about 1x1 colorwork? It’s simple. You alternate between two colors every stitch: knit one stitch with C1, then the next with C2, repeating all the way around. At the beginning of a round you can change one or both colors, which is what allows your stash to gradually blend across the sweater.

Your purchase includes video tutorials covering stash planning, coordinating sleeves, color palette ideas, fit customization, and finishing techniques.

Design Details

Sea Glass Sweater is knit seamlessly from the top down in the round with a relaxed fit and long sleeves. The yoke includes optional short rows for a more comfortable neckline fit and balanced shaping across sizes.

The sweater uses a simple 1x1 stranded colorwork pattern throughout, creating a softly blended fabric while keeping the knitting engaging but repetitive enough to relax into.

Construction Overview

The sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down in the round with short row shaping for a great fit. After completing the yoke and short row shaping, the body and sleeves are separated and finished in the round.

The entire sweater uses 1x1 colorwork. A common approach is to keep a DK main color and change the held-double fingering contrast color every round. You may also change both colors throughout the sweater to fully blend mixed scraps.

The finishing methods secure yarn changes as you knit, eliminating large amounts of end weaving.

Yarn Notes

This sweater is designed specifically so you can use ALL your yarn.

Yarn requirements are listed in grams so you can weigh leftovers and build a palette from your stash. The pattern accommodates mixed fibers and mixed weights as long as you meet gauge.

Most knitters use a DK weight yarn as their main color and hold fingering weight yarn double for the contrast color, changing the contrast color every round to blend scraps. You can also incorporate sport or worsted yarns to expand your yardage.

As long as you swatch and meet gauge, you can mix and match freely.

Total yarn needed:

420 (465, 520, 540, 590, 650, 695, 750, 785, 845, 905, 955) grams

A Sea Glass Hat pattern is included as a bonus with your purchase.
