Short Row Doll Hat
This hat fits a 6” diameter head (without hair). I used #8 pearl cotton and U.S. #00 (1.75mm) needles. The hat is knit sideways in 9 short-row sections in garter stitch. The 19 cast-on and bound-off stitches are sewn together or grafted, if you prefer. Metallic and eyelash embroidery threads were single-crocheted onto the hat after the seam was sewn.
Feel free to embellish your doll hat any way you like!
The model is a 6”/15cm tall ball-jointed doll (BJD): DreamHigh Studio’s “Yin”.
Skills needed: any cast-on, knit, slip 1 stitch purl-wise, turning for short rows and bind off.
Optional: provisional cast-on to graft to bind-off edge
Gauge is important in this pattern. Use any yarn and needles that meet gauge. Make a swatch first to check gauge and appearance.
20 yards of Le Paon #8 pearl cotton thread will make 1 doll hat in the stated gauge.
Optional: Rainbow Gallery’s Eyelash thread – a few yards
Kreinik’s Metallic blending filaments – a few yards
