Solstice
This skirt pattern, along with the Litha top, accompanies the Fashion Framework article on skirts. Worked from the bottom up on circular needles, the circumference of this very full A-line skirt gradually is reduced to the waistband through decreases made in the eyelet pattern. Four three-stitch pleats complete the waistband shaping.
The pattern sizing reflects “standard” size measurements, but you can “customize” the fit. Find the size that is closest to your waist measurement to determine what size to make. If you need it to be larger, simply omit some of the decreases or the pleats. If you need it smaller, add stitches to the pleats.
The waistband demonstrates a technique for grafting live stitches to the skirt. If the stitches for the waistband are bound off, it may be difficult to pull the skirt over the hips. A casing for elastic is worked, but seaming it would be very inelastic. Instead, the stitches are left live and grafted to the inside of the waistband. This Special Topics in Finishing article discusses this technique.
Summer Solstice is categorized as a Fine yarn, but if you check the gauge statement, you will see that the gauge for the pattern is within the Medium range, most likely due to the double eyelet pattern. I used Size 5 needles to achieve that gauge, which produces the desired drape. You may find it necessary to use even larger needles.
