Tiny Ivy Vine
I redesigned this vine pattern 4 times before getting a version I liked! I recommend worsted-weight or sport-weight yarn as working this pattern in a finer cotton thread looked flat. I also found that working decreases next to but not with the center vine stitch produced a smoother look.
The pattern is a multiple of 12 stitches + 4 border stitches and has a 16-row repeat. 6 of those rows are stockinette stitch. Add selvage stitches, if needed. The swatch has 40 stitches (3 12-stitch repeats + 4 border stitches).
Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, M1, k2tog, p2tog, and bind off in knit stitch.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Most block-able yarns/threads will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
75 yards of Paintbox Cotton Aran yarn will make 10 inches of a 40-stitch-wide strip at gauge.
