Happily for Albert Campion, this two-tone slipped stitch pattern with its pleasing woven appearance is easy to remember.
Yarn
Kate Davies Designs Milarrochy Tweed (70% Wool; 30% Mohair; 100m / 109yds per 25g ball)
Standard Length:
A Hirst: 6 (6, 7, 7, 8, 9, 9, 10) x 25g balls
B Chingly: 5 (5, 6, 6, 7, 8, 8, 9) x 25g balls
Cropped Length:
A Lochan: 5 (6, 6, 7, 8, 8, 9, 10) x 25g balls
B Eyebright: 4 (5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8) x 25g balls
Remember that garter stitch is hungry, and that relatively small adjustments to length, or minor differences in gauge, may result in using more yarn than anticipated.
Needles and notions
Gauge-size and below gauge-size circular needles (of your preferred length and type)
Tapestry needle
Stitch markers (of locking type, or bulb pins)
Spare needle cords or waste yarn for holding stitches
Gauge
25 sts and 56 rows to 10cm / 4in, over slipped stitch pattern, worked back and forth, on gauge-size needle(s)
Use 3.5mm needle as a starting point for swatching.
To assess gauge, it is very important to swatch (and to block your swatch) as this pattern has a tendency to stretch, both lengthways and widthways
Sizes
Chest circumference: 92 (101.5, 111, 121.5, 131, 140.5, 155, 165) cm / 36¼, 40, 43¾, 47¾, 51½, 55¼, 61, 65) in
Select a size 10-15cm / 4-6 in above your actual body measurements for an easy fit.
Knit the tee to your preferred length.
Shown in the first size on Kate D and the second size on Kate C in cropped and standard lengths respectively.
Pattern notes
This tee is worked flat, following a two-tone garter and slipped stitch pattern. The body is knitted to a cropped or standard length, followed by a few rows of underarm shaping. The scyes and shoulders are then shaped with short rows, and the back neck is worked higher than the front, creating a well fitting yet easy silhoutte. Using a bind off that combines the three needle technique with i-cord, the shoulders are joined, and a neat corded edge is worked along the side seams, around the neckline and the armscyes.
