This pattern is from ca. 1896 Weldon’s Practical Needlework, vol. 9, p.10. I left Weldon’s spelling of Kamchatka as is, in case you’d like to find the original pattern. Weldon used this pattern for a young child’s jacket. This is a very simple knit and purl pattern: 7 rows of k3, p3 rib with “knit across” as the 8th row. The swatch in the photo has been blocked flat.

Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, purl, YO, k2tog and bind off in knit stitch.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.

55 yards of Cascade Yarns’ ReFine will make 10 inches of a 33-stitch-wide strip at gauge.
