Twist Collection comprises a “paper-bag” style hat with cute pom-poms together with a cosy cowl and a choice of mittens or fingerless mittens. All are knitted in a chunky yarn that shows the texture of the stitches beautifully.
You work Twist Hat in the round with mock side seams, thus avoiding a jog in the stitch pattern. These ‘seams’ flow up from the rick-rack rib, through the Vikkel braid and the woven stitch pattern. Finally, you finish the hat with a special crochet cast-off that mimics the ‘seams’.
You start Twist cowl in the same way as Twist hat. Then, you shape your cowl by reducing the needle size and finished using a one-over-two cast-off, which minimises rolling of the edge.
You start both styles of mitten in the same way up to the fingers. Either, you shape the fingerless mittens using the one-over-two cast-off used for the cowl or you carry on knitting the mittens, then finish them with the crochet cast-off used for the hat. Finally, you knit the folk-style thumbs, with no shaping necessary.
You can purchase all the patterns in Twist Collection together in a single booklet or separately. Twist Collection and the individual patterns are available to purchase here as a digital pdf downloads, or as printed booklets (together with a free Ravelry download code) from the Being Knitterly webstore.
