Do you love collecting mini-skeins?  Do you need to collect more mini-skein patterns to make use of your awesome stash? This project uses nine typically-sized mini-skeins and one slightly larger mini. Each of the five motifs uses two colors. The intervening Latvian Braids weave colors from each section together to create one cohesive shawl.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
There’s nothing more dreamy than a warm, soft, cushy hat on a cold, rainy/snowy winter/fall day. This lined hat will have soft both inside and out to rival those fluffy clouds that float gracefully by on a summer day.
Knitting: Scarf
The duality of lace weight and fingering weight yarn brings out the beauty of both. When you knit with the two weights side-by-side using the same needle, the delicate ethereality of the lace binds the more substantial fingering with an airy fresh breeze. This scarf plays the two weights in a visual symphony accompanied by the gloriously silky ...

Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Deep water-filled crevices wind lazily around lofty mountain peaks in Southeast Alaska’s Misty Fjords National Monument. It’s hard to stand in the middle of this raw wilderness and not feel somewhat insignificant. As you might expect, it’s a chilly part of the world, so a pair of warm fingerless mitts is a perfect wardrobe accent. These flatter...

There is something interesting about the fact that the longer you study lines carved by the wind into the sand, the more the you see a pattern. Almost like the ebb and flow of the ocean waves themselves, the lines start to show a rhythmic quality that takes on a subtle character and personality all its own. With distinctive stitches patterned a...

Aurora borealis, named for Aurora, the Roman goddess of dawn, and Boreas, the Greek god of the north wind by mountains, can be a humbling sight. A scientific explanation often gives way to a writer’s flight of fancy in the face of a bubble of color glowing on the horizon that becomes rays of light shooting and dancing. While photographs pick up...

Delicate Japanese wrapped stitches meet slip-stitched color in a stunningly beautiful design. Paint the lines of faded antique lace by pairing a solid with a similarly toned variegated yarn. A brioche look-alike that’s as simple as knit-purl! The clean knitted-on I-Cord edge is the origin of a twisted-stitch cable that snakes back and forth acr...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Dramatic slip-stitched chevron lines create a unique center spine in this shawl, powerfully swirling and dancing like the fire-breathing mythical creature it represents. The Unicorn “fire” burns against a Mad Hatter background, leaving “embers” of lace edging in its wake, curling into impressive claws and a dangerously tipped tail. Knit full-si...
Knitting: Scarf
Rhythmic as wheat swaying in the wind, the linen stitch creates a visually appealing textured fabric that looks and feels like a beautifully woven garment. But rhythmic doesn’t necessarily mean boring. Knit on the bias, this scarf keeps it interesting! A neat I-Cord edging completes the perfectly tailored look. Two beautifully faded gradient ca...
