Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Windswept moors, passion, loss, revenge, and the odd ghost or two: that’s more than enough inspiration for a shawl. This shawl is a tribute to Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Creepy castles, stormy skies and waters, bats—and, of course, the requisite vampires and their victims…is it any wonder that Dracula has captured our imaginations? This sock is named after the Count’s first female victim in England, Lucy Westenra. The best friend of Mina Harker and beloved by no fewer than three suitors, Lucy is an intriguing c...
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Intelligent, cool, and daring: Mina Harker is the little recognized MVP of Dracula. I’m talking about the book Dracula—not the countless film adaptations, most of which have reduced Mina to a pathetic victim. Without Mina, all of Van Helsing’s efforts to destroy Dracula would have come to nothing. This sock is designed to honor her. It is a sam...
Knitting: Cowl
Do you love miniskeins? So do I! I’m not always sure what to do with them though, so I designed this cowl and used all but a few yards of a sensational miniskein pack.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
These romantic mitts were inspired by Medieval windows, doorways, and tracery. Despite their ornate appearance, they are practical too. They have long cuffs to fit under your coats or sweaters and a thumb gusset to allow greater freedom of movement. The dramatic front is mainly accomplished through increases and decreases, with just a few color...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Knit in 3 colors, this lovely, lightweight scarf is perfect for warm and cool weather. Just a hint of beads adds a tiny bit of glamor and a little weight to the hem.. It could easily be made wider by adding repeats of the diamond lace motif or by knitting it in a fingering weight. Note: if you use a fingering weight, you will need to use 6/0 be...
Knitting: Cowl
Let’s face it. Knights in shining armor are all very well, but women who can stand up and face danger themselves are better. Such a woman was Aethelflaed of Mercia, who not only fought the Vikings, but won! This cowl, together with the companion sock pattern, “Warrior Woman” is designed to honor her. The cowl features some shaping to allow it t...
Knitting: Scarf
Inspired by rippling waters and piers, Harbor View combines classic and modern elements to make a design that is interesting to knit and to wear. Best of all, it is even reversible! One side features an asymmetric cabled pattern combined with columns of stockinette. The reverse is a more simple, but interesting ribbed pattern.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Spare me the Damsels in Distress. Give me a tough woman like Aethelflaed of Mercia, who was brave enough to fight the Vikings AND win!
Knitting: Cowl
Named for a line in the iconic Helen Reddy song, “I Am Woman,” this cowl is a tribute to the bold women who fought for our right to vote. The color scheme of purple, white, and gold is inspired by the National Woman’s Party flag. The right to vote was hard won and deserves to be celebrated.
Knitting: Beret, Tam
This is a cabled beret inspired by Lagertha, Shieldmaiden and Queen from the History Channel show Vikings. It is a companion piece to the cowl pattern Lagertha’s Shield. They use the same cable, which is based on the design on Lagertha’s shield.
Knitting: Cowl
Fans of the History Channel show Vikings know Lagertha to be one of the toughest and most compelling women on TV today (or ever). This cowl is inspired by the shield she bears.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
This is a very simple garter rib mitt. It is worked flat and seamed afterwards. You choose where you wish the thumb opening to be and how big an opening you want. It is very stretchy. There is no thumb gusset. The S/M will fit most people, but people with larger hands may appreciate the extra stitches of the L/XL.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Cables, purls, and a flower motif combine to make a well fitting, beautiful and practical mitt. There are three sizes--S. M, L/XL.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Cables and purls form a beautiful and well fitting mitt. The length of the mitt can be varied, according to your taste. The photo shows two patterns from the e-book The Magic of Three. This pattern is the one on the bottom of the photo. The other is Tulip Mania.

Brandon Stark is an important recurring character in G. R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. The son of Eddard and Catelyn Stark, he is badly injured and loses the ability to walk. Since he can no longer be a warrior, Brandon must seek a different path and is destined to play a very important role in the future of Westeros. Because Bra...
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
This sock is inspired by the amazing Hatshepsut--a woman who defied the conventions of her times to become Pharaoh of Egypt. It features columns with Egyptian lotuses with a hint of pyramids on the sides and fits snugly.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Meera and Jojen Reed are a sister and brother pair in G. R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. They come from the swamps of Westeros to guide Brandon Stark to safety and to achieve his destiny. I chose to design a sock honoring them that features FROGS--one for Meera, and one for Jojen that travel side by side. Meera’s frog goes all the...
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
This pattern was inspired by Grace O’Malley, the Pirate Queen. It is combination of practical and pretty and looks best in a semisolid, solid, or tonal yarn. The design would not show in a highly variegated colorway.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Fans of G. R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones series will recognize the inspiration for these socks--Lord Varys , the political mastermind of Westeros--but you don’t have to like fantasy novels to enjoy knitting these socks. They are handsome, reasonably unisex, and fit snugly.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
In the book Outlander, a woman from the 1940s steps through the standing stones at Craigh na Dun into a world two hundred years in the past. In 2014, STARZ brought this epic to television and captured the imagination of many fans old and new.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
The inspiration for these socks came from a lovely sweater that I purchased. I loved the pattern stitch and wanted to incorporate it into socks--but to make it more wearable, and prettier--I designed a rib that incorporated the stitch pattern. My husband says it looks like a flock of Little Birds.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
This was originally designed as a Mystery Sock. The yarn it was originally designed for, Schaefer Nichole, is sadly no longer available, but you can easily substitute another yarn. You will need at least 400 yards of a nice, springy yarn of a heavier weight fingering or sportweight yarn. If you want to knit it in a thinner sock yarn, make sure ...
