I have finally got around to designing a vest I have wanted for a long time. In Spring 2024, I designed a child’s jacket as a test run. This simple Austrian-style vest is worked in garter stitch in one piece to the armholes. It features two decorative pockets and a pleated back.

It is sized to be worn over a blouse. The vest is accented by a dark green I-cord band worked from the left shoulder around the fronts, back, and neck.

Note that the fronts are wider than the back. Since the buttonholes are worked as part of the attached I-cord, I was concerned that there could be a gap between the buttonholes since there are no bands.
