Mia Shawl is a winged triangular shawl, worked from the top center outwards. Its elongated wings comfortably hug the shoulders without slipping off, making it ideal for wrapping around the neck or wearing as a cozy outer layer.
The shawl begins with a small number of cast-on stitches at the top center and grows outward with increases along the edges and center spine, shaping it into the distinct “winged” look.
The design alternates between garter stitch sections for warmth and texture, and lace panels featuring simple yarn overs and decreases, adding delicate visual interest without being overly complex.
The shawl is finished with a doubled bind-off, ensuring a stretchy edge that enhances the drape and maintains the shawl’s shape after blocking.
This pattern is highly customizable—you can easily adjust the size by adding more repeats of the garter or lace sections. The unique shape ensures versatile styling options, whether worn draped over the shoulders or wrapped around the neck for extra warmth.
