You rise early, before the sun even begins to peak over the mountains in the east. The air of this mid-September morning surrounds you. You stand in the meadow and wait patiently for the first bright glow to appear. It is not the sun you wait for but the glow from the hot air balloons that fill the field around you, waiting for the dawn to fill...

The sun glitters on the cold waters of the high mountain lake in front of you. The course sand of the beach is rough against your skin. At the waters edge, only the slightest whisper of waves tickles your toes with the cool water. As you gaze into the shallow waters before you, reflections of the trees and mountains dance on the surface of wate...

The sun peaks through the clouds and illuminates the meadow. The spring rains have brought the ground to life. Around the last remaining patches of snow, signs of spring are all around and you know it won’t be long until the first blooms are on display and fill the meadow.

High in the mountains, where in the winter the temperature rarely rises, stands a tree that is ancient and strong. This tree, though not tall, has been shaped by the wind and snow, surviving for thousands of years. Rooted in stone, its thick trunk spirals out of the ground, growing where nothing else can survive.

The Woodland Pine Cowl was designed to coordinate with my previously published Woodland Pine Hat, which was one of my first published patterns. I designed the tree cable just for fun when I first started designing just to see if I could make it work.
