Wheel is a book of knitting patterns- there are four Pi shawls in bulky weight yarn. Each represents one of the solstices or equinoxes.

This shawl is worked while holding 4 or 5 strands of yarn together to get gauge, and is meant to be used as a stash-buster. As you come to the end of one yarn, try to pick out another yarn of a similar weight to replace it- but it doesn’t have to be exact. This project has a forgiving gauge.

This hat is made from yarn that was milled by my dear friend Anna at Longway Homestead.

I’ve been thinking about this hat for a while.

I fell in love with this naturally dyed yarn as soon as I saw it. It is dyed by my friend Fiona of Sweater Weather Yarns (You can find her yarns here!)

I received this yarn from a friend and natural dyer, and was struck by the glowing colour.

To welcome Samhain- marking of the end of harvest, the midpoint between the Autumn Equinox and Winter Solstice, and the coming cold months I made this large scarf to keep warm.

Ostara is the spring equinox- the start of the year for me. The ground is waking up, and life is beginning.

Litha is the summer solstice- the longest day of the year. This long hot day marks the first day of summer, and from this day until Yule the days will slowly grow shorter.

Mabon is the autumn equinox- the balance between light and dark. Plants are heaving their last gasps, and the world is getting ready for darker times.

Yule is the end of the year- it is also the longest night. A time of darkness and reflection.

This shawl was made from very special wool.

Restless Nostalgia is a crescent shaped lace shawl. It is split up into sections, and each section is larger than the last. For me, this style of design is reminiscent of storytelling- and this shawl is inspired by a close friend, and the story of our lives so far. We have been friends for over twenty years, and I felt the need to knit our story.

I got this yarn with the intention of making more black knits for my daily wear. When I head to yarn stores I compulsively buy brightly coloured yarns, but I mostly just wear blacks and neutrals. When paired with my love for buttons- this cowl happened.

This knitted object is the start of a new group of works for me. In my artistic practice I work as a sculptor, and I wanted to bring it to my knitwear design. I have also been using brass fixtures and closures in the cloaks and capes I have been sewing, and they work quite brilliantly with knits don’t you think!?

This is a cowl that was written to use up one whole ball of Malabrigo Rasta. It is a lace knit, but is simple and quick to make.

Distinction is a top-down triangle shawl that knits up quickly, and is meant to drape loosely.

This triangle shawl is a loosely draped, and naturally dyed wonder. It is written for one size, but can be easily changed (Working charts 2a and 2b more/less times than written!) In fact, this pattern can be knit with most any weight of yarn, as long as the knitter is mindful to knit with a loose gauge.

The name of this pattern comes from the brilliant ideas that come to me at night. The time of night when my brain starts to fill with things to make and do! That is the time that this pattern came to me.

I got the yarn at a trunk show a few months ago at Baaad Anna’s Yarn Store, and all of the colours this dyer puts out are stunning!

This is a very simple pattern. It is just ribbed legwarmers worked in the round. I wanted soft and long legwarmers to wear over shoes with a slight heel. I think these work quite nicely.

This huge hooded cowl is so terribly warm! It keeps the wind out while you adventure in the forest.

This is a pattern for tubes really… just tubes for your hands that you have thumb holes in!

This naturally dyed shawl was designed while I was on an adventure in the North.

Here is a simple cowl pattern… I made it large enough to wrap it around you twice if you’d like!!

This pattern is a recipe to make a crescent shawl. It can use any weight of yarn… and can be as dense or full of drape as you’d like.

I was contacted to do some knitting for a television pilot, and it turned out to be Once Upon a Time.

This is a loose knit shawlette that can really be knit with any size of yarn you’d like!

This pattern was meant as a stash buster for me…

This pattern was made because I received a skein of Malabrigo Rastita to test knit/write a pattern!

This pattern can be easily transferred to any size of yarn or head… It is just a tube that is sewn up at the top a certain way!

This is a pretty beginner pattern.

This is a very easily alterable pattern. Just change the weights of yarn that you’re using, and use a needle size appropriate for the thicker of the two yarns.
