Crochet: Cowl
Crochet Mesh Cowl 123 - by Fondle Patterns is an easy beginner project that you can hone your skills on, or whip up quick, if you already have crochet experience.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
This near beginner pattern uses exactly 50g / 125 m of yarn. Maybe you can use your beautiful leftovers after knitting your Lascaux DK garment, too.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
One size, to fit adult head size 51-61 cm / 20-24 ins with a generous negative ease. The rib pattern will easily stretch to twice the width. Crown shaping does not have a noticeable spiral, but instead rib pattern is reduced until last decrease rounds. Long brim can be rolled twice for a fitted crown, once or not at all for a slouchy fit.
Knitting: Legwarmers, Fingerless Gloves, Beanie, Toque
Hand Knitting Pattern: 3 piece set: Legwarmers, Fingerless Gloves/Mitts, Beanie/Toque
Knitting: Cowl
Easy, fast, beginner circular needle pattern. Wear it like a cowl, loose around shoulders and neck. OR wear it wrapped twice around the neck and for even more warmth wear it wrapped around neck, crossed behind head and over forhead, like a hat/headband. Could be unisex, it looks pretty good on a man, too.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This is a FREE handout given at Knit East for the shoppers in the market. You can also get the free handout while it lasts at Cricket Cove stores in New Brunswick, Canada.
Knitting: Cowl
Such a fun yarn! No need to work hard, Cindy did all the work when she made the yarn. A beginner might really enjoy something like this!
Knitting: Legwarmers, Fingerless Gloves, Beret, Tam
This info for hat, fingerless mitts and Legwarmers. This Cashmere yarn is the best choice for warmth and softness, but other aran weight yarns would work, too.
Knitting: Headband
Great for those of us who don’t like a hat, but need warm ears. The softest cashmere was used in this design, but you can use any yarn that feels good on your head and is the same thickness.
Knitting: Sleeveless Top
It’s a great party top for the upcomming holidays! Get the free pattern “Marble bag purse 107” to go with it. You need 77-123 yards of contrast colour (Rave), along with the main colour listed above. Any yarn that you would describe as super bulky will work for the contrast colour. The main colour is any plain worsted weight, any fibre. Easy en...
Knitting: Purse / Handbag, Drawstring Bag, Bag - Other
Any bulky or novelty yarn will work. An average ball is enough.
Knitting: Vest
Sizes 40 -52 inches. Just like in the fashion magazines! Only costs near to nothing, and is cruelty free. Very quick to make with 4 strands held together.
Knitting: Legwarmers
Easy to do, with basic shaping. Fast. Good for a teen. Similar item seen recently in fashion magazines.
Knitting: Vest
A wardrobe staple! Everybody needs something like this in thier everyday outfits. Its a top, worn alone; or over a blouse, becomes more professional. Not hard to do, and any aran weight will work. Pattern has 6 sizes: 31 1/2-49”.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
EASY! FAST! Takes very little yarn. Use a chunky wool, but a novelty or handspun yarn would add interest.
Knitting: Cardigan, Coat / Jacket
A bit romantic? This shaped fitted jacket will add to your wardrobe. Knit in one piece with the sleeves added in. The flounced edge is made separately and sewn on. Not for beginners, the challenge is doing many things at once. The pattern tells you specifically when to do each new instruction. This is quite fast to complete, just keep track of ...
Knitting: Sleeveless Top
I love rummaging through bargain bins! I buy one ball only of “pretty” yarns. Do you have a collection too? This is a great way to play with those yarns! (Also see Fun stripe cardi 404) I used 7 different novelty yarns, all different weights. They average themselves out to be a nice loose fabric. Tension is not too important as you are knitting...
Knitting: Cardigan, Coat / Jacket
For experienced knitters, only because of the decreases in lace. I have carefully written the instructions on how to do that, step by step. It is very fast and effective in the hand paint yarn. This style fits many sizes and shapes, and can be worn tight as a sweater, or loose as a jacket.
Knitting: Cardigan, Coat / Jacket
This a must have for either the East coast or Muskoka. A fast knit with a very bulky yarn. Or you can double up two chunkys,(double the yardage). The seed stitch is easy to follow. The raglan shaping is done all together with a simple cable. A classic jacket to wear forever. Comes in 6 sizes: 36-56”.
Knitting: Mittens
EASY! FAST! Pair can be done in one evening, with experience. These are pretty big mitts, for adult size.
Knitting: Shrug / Bolero, Pullover
High fashion beginner project. The only thing easier would be a square! You need a slinky furry yarn, mine had some sparkle. It’s knit cuff to cuff. It looks like a scarf until you put it on.
Knitting: Cardigan, Shrug / Bolero
If you love novelty yarns so much you buy one of everything, then this is for you. Sale bins are my weakness. Try to buy in one or two colour ways and you can make gorgeous knits! Just have enough total yardage, and stripe 2 rows each. The pattern is knit sideways, so gauge is not too important. (see also Fun stripe top 306) There are 4 sizes i...
Knitting: Pullover
For the DIVA in us. This pattern is easy to do and can use any wide ribbon yarn. Would be amazing in hand dye. The DK ribbed waist band determines the size. A great pattern if you live in warmer climates.
Knitting: Neck / Torso - Other
A beautiful topper for a formal dress. Or just a fashionable addition to any outfit. Very easy. The only challenge is the lace weight yarn, with BIG needles. Make sure they are “sharp”.
