Welcome to year three of my subscription series! The idea for my first ebook subscription (year one: the pleiades) was born in 2010 while reading posts on Ravelry: people knitting 10 shawls in 2010. I decided to design and knit 10 shawls that year, and at the time I released my first subscription, I had 7 left to do. I made my goal that year, so the next year I was back for more. Today though, I have realized that I simply love doing these subscriptions so much, I won’t even pretend that there’s any other reason to do them! The number 7 is one of my favorites, and I like including the extra accessories. So here comes year three!

I won’t even pretend that there’s any other reason to do them! 7 is one of my favorite numbers, and so I am still doing 7 small (and not so small) shawls with 3 (my other favorite number!) accessories thrown in.

The only constant is change. It was one of my grandmother’s favorite sayings! Lately, I’ve found myself inexplicably collecting grey and gold yarn. At this point in my life, I’ve begun to realize that, when I get in a color mood, there’s a reason. Last year I was grey and sad. This year, gold began to creep into everything I reached for. And then it hit me while I was working on my Seismic shawl, and I realized why I’ve been so drawn to that combination.

The Freunde (Friends) Hat is a quick two color textured hat based one of the stitch patterns in the Harmonize Shawl. It’s worked flat, joined at the end, and is a fantastic way to practice German short rows (hence the German name)! The finished hat is slouchy and warm. And there’s a removable pompom!
