If you like the Sheltering Pines Hat, here’s some cute mitts to go with it. The hat and mitts were inspired by the downward drooping branches of some pine trees outside my window. I often see birds and bunnies going under the branches to shelter from the weather. Thus, Sheltering Pines.

This triangular shaped shawl is worked from the bottom up, and is a long winged shallow shawl with a soft garter stitch body and a lace edge that’s knit at the same time as the body.

One of the ladies in my knitting group wanted to knit a simple shawl, and after looking at several patterns we decided a basic asymmetric shawl would be the best option. So, I wrote out a pattern for her. Of course, I couldn’t resist adding a bit of embellishment also, so I added a couple of variations.

This hat is a quick and easy knit with cabled columns supporting a pendant like motif. There is a swirled crown for interest, which can be done in alternate ways. The simple 16 stitch motif repeat allows you to size this from Small to Large easily with repeats of the motif.
